Cesc Fabregas move to Arsenal ruled out

facebooktwitterreddit

After weeks of speculation as to where Cesc Fabregas would be next season it seems former club Arsenal have removed themselves from the chase, according to BBC Sport.

Following the recruitment of Germany’s Mesut Ozil last season it seems that Wenger is not chasing another creative midfielder and would prefer to spend the money on a striker or defensive option.

However this does mean that Fabregas is almost certainly set to line up against Arsenal this season as United, City and Chelsea have all expressed a keen interest in bringing the Barcelona man back to the Premier League. Seeing their old captain line up for one of these teams would be hugely disappointing for any Arsenal fan, but there could be some hope.

  • Guardiola, now manager at Bayern Munich, has expressed his interest at working with Fabregas again. Arsenal would much rather him sign for a foreign team to save seeing him pull on the shirt of a rival and walking out to face them next season.

Chelsea seem at the front of the queue after rumours surfaced yesterday that they had agreed personal terms with the player but were yet to agree a fee, which I’m sure Chelsea will be able to find the change for. United have been after the player for a year, but without European football to worry about it might be hard to attract players like Fabregas this season.

So which team would be the least bad? Fabregas turning out for any other team is going to be hard to watch, but is there a best of a bad bunch? Or are they all equally awful?
