The player Arsenal need to sign

Slow start to season

4 Points after 2 games is how it is for Arsenal so far in the Premier League after a 2-1 Win at home to Crystal Palace and a 2-2 draw away to Everton. Arsenal haven’t played well in either of these games and the team just doesn’t look balanced and fluid. To fix this I think Wenger needs to sign at least one more player in this transfer window to correct the balance of this team and get the Gunners firing once again!

After Arsenal’s slowish start the season, a signing like Bender would help invigorate the side

The position I think and most Arsenal fans think we need strengthening in is the defensive midfield area, we have two players in this position in Flamini and Arteta with Arteta being unavailable of selection through injury at the moment. Both of these players are average in my opinion and are not good enough to provide that defensive shield that Arsenal need.

The player I want to sign for that Defensive midfield position is Lars Bender of Bayern Leverkusen.  The 25 year old CDM is a full German international and brings very good cover in front of the Arsenal defence and also brings a bit of familiarity to the Germans at Arsenal, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Özil. I didn’t mention Lukas Podolski as it seems likely he won’t be an Arsenal player at the end of the Transfer Window with a deal with Juventus looming.

Bender achieved a WhoScored.com rating of 7.32 for last season in the German Bundesliga which is a very good score and proves what a good player he is.  Compare this to Aaron Ramsey ho got a 7.75 score for the Barclays Premier league and you can draw comparisons there.

Bender would be available for around 15/20 million pounds as  At this price I think Bender would be a very good buy and a must sign for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. He has been linked with Arsenal before, not as much this transfer window but there has been interest from Arsenal before and that is a good sign

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

I suspect that this deal and any other potential deals may rely on the result of Wednesday nights Champions League qualifiers against Beşiktaş J.K. Without Champions League football I don’t think we can sign any top top players as they all want to play at the highest standard.

I remain hopeful by the end of the transfer window that Lars Bender will be an Arsenal player.

We shall see.
