As Sunday comes round on the EPL it’s one of the best times to look at the fortunes of the teams involved. With all but four teams involved on Saturday it’s a great time to have a look up and down the table.

Chelsea continued to look dominant but Liverpool are struggling to match last season’s form

At the top of the table Chelsea continued their imperious start to the season with a great recovery from 1-0 down to beat Swansea 4-2. Diego Costa scored a hat-trick to become the first ever player to score 7 goals in his first 4 appearances in the EPL. Annoyingly for Arsenal fans Cesc Fabregas continued his march towards a player of the year nomination with two more assists and a whole host of created chances. Jose Mourinho managed some solid business over the summer.

For the other big teams, Arsenal were held to a draw by Manchester City, read our review and have a look at the player ratings because I’m going to focus elsewhere today.

Liverpool suffered their second loss of the season at the hands of Aston Villa, with new signing Mario Balotelli failing to make any real positive impact on the game. Rodgers will of course point to Sturridge’s preventable injury and the fact he has half an eye on their first Champions League game next week, but that’s why you have a squad of players and surely doing well in the EPL is more important? 3 points dropped for the Merseyside title hopefuls.

Southampton continued to prove there’s life in the team after the Liverpool summer raid with a convincing 4-0 demolition of Newcastle to leave Pardew extremely nervous about his job. To be honest I’m not sure there’s too much wrong with Pardew because the team looks extremely average, maybe a bit more action in the transfer market wouldn’t have gone a miss?

Spurs twice threw away a one goal lead over Sunderland in a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light. Spurs would have enjoyed a win having been handed a 3-0 defeat by Liverpool last time out but a Harry Kane own goal rescued a point for the Black Cats. Spurs fans will be enjoying Lamela’s performances this season and there were times yesterday where he was simply unplayable.

Crystal Palace and Burnley confirmed all expectations that their match would be the least interesting of the weekend, a 0-0 draw on offer to spectators there. Leicester continued their impressive form with a 1-0 away win at Stoke, with legendary midfielder Cambiasso making his first appearance for the Foxes.

So who do you think was the most impressive team this Saturday?
