Arsenal Transfer Rumor Update for July 4: Cazorla, Vidal and More

When Gooner nation was looking forward to this transfer window opening, it was because we were so excited about who may be joining Arsenal, not who may be leaving. However, most of the recent murmurings have to do solely with Arsenal exits, not arrivals. But they are transfer rumors nonetheless so lets get started.

Santi Cazorla

With Atletico Madrid set to lose Arda Turan to “one of the top teams in England,” the Telegraph is reporting that they have pinned Santi Cazorla as the No. 1 candidate to replace him. While Cazorla downplayed the rumors in the winter transfer window, the fact remains that Cazorla wishes to return to Spain at some point.

The little Spaniard also has to see the opportunity to go to Atletico as a way to cement first-team playing time whereas at Arsenal, he may find it hard to come by, seeing as how everyone is finding it hard to come by.

Mikel Arteta

The disappearing Arteta has become an afterthought at Arsenal, if even that, yet he oddly remains the captain. Given the loyalty that Arsene Wenger has for his players, I would expect Arteta to receive the best treatment possible, and the Metro is even indicating that he has received a one-year contract extension.

Arturo Vidal

Vidal was literally a done deal. Now, all of a sudden, Juventus are saying that they have not even received a formal offer for the Chilean. The Sport Review reports that Juventus’ chief director issued a statement on Vidal, saying “there are no ongoing negotiations for Vidal, who has been the object of desire for half of Europe.”

Arsene Wenger is a master of disguise, but I feel like he is not trying to disguise anything here. This deal may have been an over-elaborate hoax. Shame.

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Morgan Schneiderlin

The French midfielder has said he is going to leave Southampton, so there is no going back. Now he just needs a home. Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are the three musketeers fighting it out and despite Arsenal being the longest linked club, it looks like United are the front runners as they have launched an official 20 million pound bid.

Albeit that bid is a full 5 million less than the asking price.

Sergio Ramos

The only reason Ramos made the cut to be included is because it was such a slow transfer rumor day. Ramos has been rumored to be on the out of Real Madrid for quite some time but nothing has materialized. The defender is often considered one of the best in the world, so interest is always going to exist far and wide. That being said, while he would definitely bolster Arsenal’s back line, between the cost and the existing stock of defenders, no move is going to happen.
