Karim Benzema, Sergio Busquets and the Latest Arsenal Transfer Rumors

Karim Benzema

This saga has everything, plot twists, new characters, action, adventure, classic misdirection and the like. Hopefully the ending is a surprise ending and by that I mean hopefully Arsenal get their target.

Benzema’s transfer journey has taken many turns. Reports have indicated that the 30 and 35 million pounds Arsenal had supposedly offered were not official offers. Then it was reported that Arsenal were meeting to discuss a 40 million pound deal for the elite French striker.

Now, however, the Metro is reporting that Arsenal are going to bid 45.8 million pounds. The steadily increasing price either means that Arsene Wenger is serious and keeps bidding or that no one knows that Real Madrid actually want for their striker.

Another report indicated that Benzema would not be sold unless Real Madrid could nab a replacement, namely Sergio Aguero.

William Carvalho

A blast from the past, or rather, a blast from just a couple weeks ago. William Carvalho broke his leg this off season and in the midst of breaking his leg, lost all transfer value.

However, Real Madrid, being the roguish risk takers that they are, appear ready to launch a near-20 pound bid for the holding midfielder, a price that Arsenal was willing to pay last year.

The Metro reports that Atletico Madrid is also interested in the Portuguese product.

Sergio Busquets

Arsenal emerged as surprise suitors for long-serving Barcelona man Sergio Busquets over the past couple of days. The reasoning behind this rumored interest is that supposedly Busquets emerged as a name on Wenger’s super secret list to Lord Harris.

Busquets is one of the best in the world. He will not come cheap, nor will he likely come at all. The Spaniard is far too valuable to Barcelona, where he has spent his entire career.

Julian Draxler

Julian Draxler is still the target of Arsenal transfer talk despite being more heavily linked to Juventus, who want the kid, but do not want to pay that ridiculous release clause.

FC Schalke head man Andre Breitenreite said, via the Metro: “I want to keep him 100% but I do not what will happen if we recieve a brutal offer.”

Apparently, that means that Arsenal are interested in offering a brutal sum. However, in the history of Arsene Wenger, he has never once offered a sum that could be considered brutal, that is unless you count that 1 pound bid for Kun Aguero as brutal. I know I did.

Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski may not have heard, but Arsenal are interested. He told Bayern Munich’s fans via the Mirror: “I don’t believe the fans have already seen the best of me. I can, and will, be even better this season, I’m certain of that.”

While I think it would be gloriously hilarious if he were to be even better this season… at Arsenal, I do not think that Lewandowski has that much salt to rub in Bayern’s wound.

Arsenal are said to be ready to offer 35 million for the Pole if Benzema remains nothing more than Arsenal’s unicorn.
