With the transfer window literally pulling the sheets up and tucking itself in for bed, rumors have sprung up that Arsene Wenger may have one trick left up his sleeve. That is right, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reemerged as a potential solution to all of Arsenal’s problems.

If the reports are to be believed, and that is always a dicey proposition in and of itself, Arsenal have been in contact with PSG over multiple issues. WithArsene Wenger being unwillingly photographed in his homeland, speculation has emerged that he is not their on holiday as the window closes, but there on business. Edinson Cavani is not moving from PSG as he just has to wait out the departure of Ibrahimovic to become the PSG front man.

Being the good-natured soul that Wenger is, he may therefore look to hasten Cavani’s rise to the top by plucking the Swedish Behemoth away from the team he has already said he is moving away from. Do not call it charity though, call it the greatest gift Arsene Wenger could give Arsenal supporters.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had met with Arsenal long, long ago, but after having been told that he could have a ‘trial,’ Ibra decided that Arsene Wenger was not the man for him.

Fast forward a decade or so and a lot can change. Zlatan’s personality is well known. He is a one-man entertainment machine and some have seen that as a potential clashing point with what Arsenal stands for. But one thing cannot be ignored, and that is that Zlatan is one of the best strikers we have ever seen. He is a goal machine, can create for himself and given the fact that he is aging and eyeing the MLS, he would probably not be at the Emirates longer than a year or two. That is just enough time to develop Chuba Akpom into a viable striking option.

Where would that leave Olivier Giroud? Well, if Wenger was feeling saucy, he could run a two striker system and completely dismantle the opposing defensive line but Wenger rarely feels saucy. More likely Giroud would be forced into a support role. Being a staunch supporter of Giroud, I am fine with him leading the line, but when you bring Zlatan into the picture, everything changes.

Zlatan has never plied his trade in the English Premier League and despite its falling prestige, he still could see it as one last hurrah to conquer, if one can indeed conquer hurrahs. However, Ibra has spoken ill of the English game in the past.

This is still a major stretch. While Zlatan would come cheap at somewhere around £10-20 million, Wenger is inevitably going to remember missing out on Zlatan and then witnessing the personality that erupted from the star striker. Could Wenger overlook that?

To spark rumors even more, Zlatan and the Swedish medical staff were reportedly not in training today for Internationals. Obviously the rumor mongers are going to say that he is undergoing a medical to join Arsenal.

The transfer window may be shutting very soon, but if a deal is made, all they would have to do is finalize the details, just like last year with Danny Welbeck. Although this would be more exciting than last year with Danny Welbeck.
