It’s a sad day when you come to the realization that a young prospect within the Arsenal system will probably never make it at Arsenal. That day came awhile ago for Yaya Sanogo, but he is continuing to reinforce the point with each passing day.

The young Frenchman was sent out on loan to Ajax to hopefully learn under Dennis Bergkamp. But the results have been less than desirable.

Sanogo has done little to nothing in his time at the Dutch club. He has not yet scored a goal for them and has only made three substitute appearances. If you needed more evidence of his shortcomings, check out the video on this page.

As a striker, you can’t really be bumbling about, tripping all over yourself. You need basic coordination. Even Olivier Giroud has that. To make matters even more sketchy, reports indicate that Ajax did not even scout Yaya Sanogo before agreeing to take him on loan:

Questions must be asked. It makes you wonder if Wenger really is just trying to offload Sanogo any way he can.

Whatever the case, being 22-years of age, we may have seen the last of Yaya Sanogo at Arsenal. 22 is not old, obviously, but there has to have been some sort of visible progress in a guy between the age he was signed (20) and now (22). But there really has not been a shred of evidence that he can make it as a professional in the Premier League. He did score in a friendly against Benfica, three in fact, and he scored once in the Champion’s League for Arsenal, but that is a small batch of highlights among an enormous string of failures.

Arsene Wenger brought Yaya Sanogo over and it really appeared that Le Prof expected the young striker to make an immediate impact at Arsenal. He was expected to back up Olivier Giroud. Although it turned out that he was a slower, smaller, less coordinated Giroud. Not exactly what Arsenal needed.

Sanogo has quite the goal-scoring record from his time at Auxerre. It just simply is not translating. Arsene Wenger will surely not give up on him just yet but he may take the same path that Ryo Miyaichi did. Slowly fading away on loans until he is cut altogether.
