Arsenal will be tied to so many transfers this summer and in fact, it has already begun. Denis Suarez is one such transfer with very little perks.

So Arsenal need to do some shopping this summer. Some strikers, some defenders, maybe some girthy midfielders who like to be mean and steal the ball from other people. But one area they really do not need to strengthen is their attacking midfield (unless it’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan). Another young attacking midfielder should not be seen as a top priority for several reasons, particularly in Denis Suarez’s case.

Suarez mostly plays wide midfield. He has made all of his appearances this year either wide left or wide right. Arsenal really isn’t in game for a wide midfielder because they simply do not use wide midfielders. They use attacking wingers like Alexis Sanchez and Alex Iwobi.

Suarez does not have the speed or technical ability to perform the roles that those two perform. While he is a solid crosser, Arsenal has also weened itself off of crossing. Without Giroud, there is no need to send aerial balls into the box.

Plus, there is this guy named Jon Toral who is an attacking midfielder who is ready to make an impact at Arsenal. Suarez would directly interfere with those plans and likely push Toral out of the club. Needless to say, that’s a bit unnecessary, especially given the fact that Toral has not had a chance yet.

It’s not just Toral that’s in the way of a Suarez move, though. Dan Crowley and Jeff Reine-Adelaide are both seeking first team opportunities and the return of Jack Wilshere takes up another spot. Where exactly would Suarez fit into the situation?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

While the Spaniard does have a penchant for assists, he does not maintain a very impressive pass completion, as it hovers around 75%. That, like so many other things, also does not fit into the Arsenal scheme.

Defensively he’s rather average as well. He isn’t a physical midfielder, so it’s not like Wenger could push him into the holding roles, although he would no doubt try, as that’s just what Wenger does.

I don’t buy this rumor. Suarez is a plenty talented young man, but he doesn’t fit what Arsenal need. He plays a position Arsenal do not even have and he isn’t one of those names that cannot be passed up on, like Marco Reus or Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
