Alvaro Morata has spoken of a “tempting” offer that he has received this Summer. Could the offer be from Arsenal, with significant rumors linking the club to the Juventus forward?

Arsenal are clearly in the market for a striker. There have be incessant links with players like Karim Benzema, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gonzalo Higuain for a number of years now, and although the Gunners have been unable to bring a big name forward to the club, it seems clear that Wenger is pursuing a player of that position.

That much was made painfully clear when Wenger submitted a woefully embarrassing £40 million and £1 for Luis Suarez while the Uruguayan was still at Liverpool. However, Wenger’s has not fared well in his endeavor to bring in a world class striker. So far, that is.

Recent developments may point towards a possible upturn in fortunes for Arsenal and their search for a new striker. Another player who has long been linked with the club, Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, has recently expressed a desire to play in England, stating:

"“There are some offers from England that are tempting, not only by contract. I think for my characteristics the Premier League would also be a great destination. I’m saying a move to the Premier League would not be a step backwards. With what I have learned in Italy, if I have the chance to learn something more in England I think it would make me a more complete, better player. I’m 23 and all I want is progress, to play and learn from the best."

These are extremely intriguing quotes from a player who has been very strongly linked to Arsenal. The Juventus forward has attracted a lot of attention over the past 12 month with his performances for the Italian champions, garnering praises that he could be the next great striker on the European scene.

Morata only scored 12 goals in 47 games this last season, but when sub appearances, all 21 of them, are factored in to the equation, it becomes a more impressive stat line. He is also 23, and has time to mature and grow, while also possessing great experience playing at both Juventus and Real Madrid before hand.

His former club could well be the major stumbling block to a potential deal, however. When he was sold to Juventus from Madrid, a buy back clause, believed to be in the region of €30million, will activate on June 1st. If Real have any aspirations of bringing Morata back to the Bernabeu, then they will have the upper hand in any potential deal.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger can pull off such a deal, but interest is clearly there. Whether Morata is a good signing, however, is another question altogether.
