Arsenal have officially signed Shkodran Mustafi,  to the detriment of one fan’s wallet. The official twitter account have gloated in the wake of such news.

Regret can sometimes creep up on you like a thief in the night. After years of denial, the job that you turned down because of your self-doubts, the girl you never asked to marry because it wasn’t the right time, the friend that just slipped away as you failed to stay in contact with them.

It is a funny feeling, reflecting, and one that often brings a sense of remorse and frustration about what could have been, perhaps what should have been.

Regret can also you smash you in the mouth like the hangover that is the sign of such recollections of painful, head-banging moments  from the night before. For one unfortunate fan, such regret is currently laying punch after punch, and the Arsenal twitter account is relishing in every second.

As perhaps every sane Arsenal fan with an ounce of memory would, Daniel clearly doubted reports that the club were ever vaguely interested in Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi. More intent on believing the doubt of history rather than the hope of the future, Daniel was premature in his public action of putting his money where his mouth was.

The official Arsenal twitter account have since enjoyed such foolish behaviour by announcing their signing through the medium of ridicule. It is highly amusing, and slightly painful on Daniel’s behalf, to witness the humiliating of being so totally wrong on such a public stage.

Mustafi is now officially an Arsenal player. Some fans will be far happier than Daniel if he pays up, that is.
