Arsenal has yet to announce the official deal for Sead Kolasinac, but for as excited as we all are, the Bosnian must be ten times as much.

Arsenal ran with a makeshift defense against Chelsea in the FA Cup final, yet it worked to perfection. From Per Mertesacker as the infallible lighthouse to Rob Holding the wonder-signing, there was hardly a flaw to be found.

Even Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was forced to play on the far-less familiar left-hand side, made a strong appearance. He struggled a bit defensively to maintain Victor Moses, but it was Oxlade-Chamberlain’s diligence that ended up getting the Nigerian sent off in that pivotal moment.

Still, the few flaws that we did see from Ox have to open wide the door for Sead Kolasinac. The Bosnian left wing back is going to be announced on a five-year deal any day now, making the jump from Schalke, and I can’t think of anyone in the world who could be more excited about this than the man himself.

Kolasinac can defend with the best fullbacks out there and attack with the best wingers. The few flaws that we saw from Ox are going to go away when Kolasinac settles in.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Schalke is a team rich with history and teeming with young talent, but they just aren’t Arsenal. Kolasinac will be building off of his most successful campaign ever by moving to a club with superior talent all around him and the best training and facilities he could ever wish for.

He will be fighting alongside no-nonsense tough guys like Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi and he will be creating attacking moves with geniuses like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. His work rate will be mirrored by the likes of Alexis and Oxlade-Chamberlain and his crosses will be fielded by stallions like Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.

What else could the guy want? Arsenal has swapped a dead 4-2-3-1 for Kolasinac’s formation at Schalke, the 3-4-3, which plays into all of his strengths, and they are finishing a disappointing season on a high. They’ll be heading into 2017/18 with very low expectations and low pressure, which sets the table for a massive campaign.

Everything about this move has to be making Kolasinac antsy to get started.

The deal is supposedly going to be announced soon, with the move becoming official as of July 1st, when his contract with the German outfit expires.
