Arsenal and Chelsea Position by Position Comparison to Prove that Arsenal Will Take Title

Olivier Giroud vs Diego Costa
Olivier Giroud, our lovable lamp post, came back from injury with a purpose, and he delivered that purpose with class, scoring 16 times in 21 appearances. 18 goals in an injury shortened year is very impressive and the Frenchman proved to be much more capable than he had ever been given credit for.

Giroud is the best aerial target in the league, hands down, no contest. His head is a wonderful thing. But he also plays hold up football very well and it has become a crucial part of Arsenal’s attack. This year is going to be exciting to see what Giroud can do.
However, Giroud did go eight matches without scoring. That is ridiculous and should never happen. Diego Costa never went more than three matches without scoring. Consistency is key, as it always is and always will be. He only grabbed three more goals than Giroud, however, but the overlying message remains the same: Diego Costa does it regularly, Giroud has yet to prove that he can. He does it in bursts.
Verdict: Diego Costa is the more effective striker for how consistent he is. Until Giroud can prove that he can do the same, Chelsea have the upper hand.
