Petr Cech vs Thibaut Courtois
You may be saying to yourself “this one’s easy, Cech was benched for Courtois,” and obviously you are right, but this match up is not as clear cut as it seems. For one, you would be hard-pressed to find a player who is more motivated and who wants to beat Chelsea more than Petr Cech.

The Czech international said via the Daily Mail that he would have no friends at Chelsea. This is not a friendly competition. Obviously the two still respect each other but Cech wants to remind Chelsea that he should have been starting, not Courtois.
It is also hard to forget that John Terry himself said that Cech would save Arsenal 12-15 points. Those points would have won Arsenal the title.
But then you have Thibaut Courtois, the man who unseated Petr Cech. Courtois is one of the best young keepers in the world and many have likened him to an octopus for the obscene saves he makes. However, he did have some rough patches last year, rough patches that he will surely look to make amends for.
Verdict: Despite Courtois unseating Petr Cech, the added fire and desire to stick it to Chelsea gives Cech the upper hand in this battle. He was so convinced that he should be starting that he put his reputation on the line to move to a cross town rival. That is pretty convincing.
