Arsenal Vs Tottenham: North London Derby Predictions
By Josh Sippie
Jonathan: Arsenal 2-1 Spurs
Arsenal vs Spurs. The big one. It has never been a fixture against two teams competing for the Premier League title; thanks to Spurs lack of ever challenging for the title. But regardless of this fact, it is still a fixture that every Arsenal fan wants to win, sometimes more than any other fixture.
Both teams this season have been playing well. Over the last five games Arsenal have won all five, scoring 16 and conceding three. Tottenham have won three and drawn two, scoring 14 goals and conceding five. These figures point to one of two things happening; either the goals will flow from either side and we will see a high scoring game; or, with how good each team’s defensive record has been, we will see a dull 0-0 draw.

With regards to the last 10 games of the North London Derby played in the League at home, Arsenal have won six, drew three and lost one; a very good record. Things would again point to either an Arsenal win, or a draw. What needs to be taken into consideration this time around, however, is the last game each team played. Arsenal were destroyed 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, leaving their chances of qualifying to the next round hanging on by a thread. Spurs, however, won their last game in the Europa League, so go into the North London Derby more on a high than Arsenal.
Arsenal are in the midst of a major injury crisis, with 10 players currently occupying the treatment room. Perhaps some of the most significant players are Bellerin and Koscielny, whose involvement is questionable. Not only this but our best player Sanchez has looked as though all his football is catching up to him and has looked sluggish.
Based on the injuries that Arsenal have, and the lack of rotation that our thin squad will allow, my head is saying that we will at best see a draw between the two teams, but that a loss is just as likely. The loss against Bayern could do one of two things; prey on our team’s mind and mean that they are lacking in confidence and will play in such a way; or it will mean they want to prove themselves in the League and carry on with our fine domestic form.
This is a hard one to call, but I’m going to go for a hard fought 2-1 home win.
