The last ever North London Derby at White Hart Lane and Arsenal came with determination to spoil the party. It didn’t work. Here are the player ratings.

Just when you thought we were doing well and there was fight there to steal something from White Hart Lane, Arsenal had a complete breakdown, surrendering two goals in about a minute.

There is rarely ever an excuse for that, but if there is some sort of consolation, it’s that the first goal was a lucky rebound.

And that is the end of my excuses.

The Gunners simply had no blueprint for how to get back into the game. They had no tactics to facilitate what actually looked like a decent amount of fight. The attack was too slow, the defense too scattered and if it weren’t for Petr Cech, this would have gotten even more out of hand incredibly quickly.

There aren’t a whole lot of accolades to go around today, so don’t head into these player ratings with optimism. Let the ranting begin.

Goalkeeper

PETR CECH

GK, Arsenal

7.5

MAN OF THE MATCH. Okay, the ranting can wait one position. Petr Cech was the one that kept the scoreline somewhat respectable. But only somewhat. Neither goal really allowed much leeway. The penalty, even if he would have dove the right way, chances are he doesn’t reach that. The effort on the rebound was just about impossible to deal with also. Aside from that though, he was clutch, could have been four or five to nil had the international keeper not been at the top of his game.
