Arsenal are increasingly confident of signing Alexandre Lacazette per Sky sources. If they were to complete the signing, here are three players it would impact.
After weeks of rumour and conjecture, the latest reports suggest that Arsenal are growing increasingly confident of being able to sign Alexandre Lacazette. Per Sky Sources, they have entered talks with Lyon over a possible £44 million deal and are the favourites to secure his signature.
If a deal was able to be completed, then here are three players that would be impacted by the addition.
3. Danny Welbeck
When Arsenal signed Danny Welbeck in the summer of 2014 from Manchester United, the basis of the move centred on the greater opportunity that he would get to play as the centre-forward, rather than being shifted out wide, into roles that he dutifully worked in but did not want to.
However, after three years at the club, he is yet to enjoy a consistent run of games as the leading striker. A series of injuries, combined with a heavy dose of rotation with Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez, has seen his opportunities limited, often suffering the same positional uncertainty that he tried to escape at United.
If Lacazette was indeed to sign for the Gunners, then it would be presumed that he would become the starting striker, resigning Welbeck to a reserve role, sometimes shunted out wide to accommodate the Frenchman, and that is not what the rangy attacker signed up for.
