Arsenal: Arsene Wenger’s last batch of starlets
Calum Chambers (England)

Debut Season – 2014-15
In the summer of 2014, Arsenal paid the big bucks to buy Calum Chambers. He was touted as a right-back who could also play in central defence and central midfield. Through the course of the season, his lack of pace and Bellerin’s emergence meant that Chambers became a regular in the Arsenal line-up as a center-back. In the subsequent season, Chambers couldn’t continue the momentum. Once Arsenal purchased Shkodran Mustafi, Chambers was shipped out to Middlesborough on loan. He performed well during his time at Boro but couldn’t prevent their relegation. The silver lining, though, is that he seems to have turned a corner. His performances against Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have been much better than has been the norm.
What does the new manager do? With Per Mertesacker retiring, Laurent Koscielny on his last legs and Mustafi still being notoriously error-prone, the incoming manager may be wise to establish a new center-back pairing with Chambers in it. Though the likelier outcome is for Arsenal to sell the former Southampton man and look for a new defender.
