Arsenal Vs West Ham United: Predicted starting XI – Lacazette returns
Central midfield
Emery has predominantly used a 4-3-3 that morphs into a 4-2-3-1 and even a 4-4-2 without the ball — the shapes are, in essence, the same, the only difference being the position of the most advanced central midfielder. In the first game, the furthest forward midfielder was Aaron Ramsey. But then he was benched at the weekend, with Mesut Ozil thrust into his position.

Ozil, in turn, was hooked midway through the second half and was called out publicly by Emery prior to the trip to Stamford Bridge for his questionable effort levels and intensity of pressing. However, with this being a game in which Arsenal will likely dominate possession, I believe that Emery will want the greater ingenuity and creativity of Ozil.
In the deeper roles, it seems as though 19-year-old Matteo Guendouzi has overtaken Granit Xhaka as the foremost deep-lying playmaker. Xhaka has been substituted in both matches thus far with Guendouzi playing the full 90 minutes.
I also expect the man that he has been replaced by to take his place in the starting line-up here. Lucas Torreira came on at half-time against Chelsea and showcased his game-breaking ability, snapping into challenges, making several interceptions, and pressuring the Chelsea midfield. It’s time for the new signing to start. I expect him to do so here.
