Arsenal vs Everton: 5 key players to ensure victory
By Josh Sippie
1. Alexandre Lacazette.
I half-expected Alexandre Lacazette to score a hat trick against Newcastle United after just how potent he was against Cardiff City, which was his first start. That obviously didn’t happen, but what happened instead was he didn’t tally any stats. Instead, he had a fantastic match being a cohesive piece of this attack and contributing in ways that don’t go directly on the scoresheet.
Lacazette is a central figure of this attack because he has the skillset to be so. Whereas people like Ozil and Aubameyang can go missing, and really do need hard stats to be successful, Lacazette has proven time and again (going further back than Cardiff City) that he has the ability to be impactful in other ways.
For instance, his soft first touches, his ability to turn on a time, to shoot from distance, to dribble in tight spaces. It’s all a fantastic way to make opposing defenses nervous and when you make them nervous, good things happen for your side.
Lacazette doesn’t like not scoring, however, so expect him to be hungrier than ever to start a new streak against Everton.
All in all, if these players perform to the best of their capabilities, it should be a breeze getting past Everton at home.
