2. Sokratis

Nothing haunts my dreams more lately than Shkodran Mustafi and his amazing ability to continuously make mental mistakes. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a physically capable defender so mentally incapable. It’s truly shocking.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

And against Crystal Palace, it boiled over. No, you can’t blame him for the loss, but you can blame him for continuously making baffling mistakes, which yet again came to the forefront.

The key absence was Sokratis, who was serving the last game of his suspension. Because of his absence and the need to rest Nacho Monreal, Mustafi had to start and we reaped what was sown. Mustafi failed us.

Sokratis will be back against Wolverhampton, and not a moment too soon. The best part is that he will be alongside Laurent Koscielny which, every time that happens, ends up being a major defensive force, no matter who the opponent is.

Whoever you want to slip in as the third centerback, assuming we go with the back three, just needs to handle themselves, and that should be easy enough. The hard part is complete when you start Sokratis and Koscielny together.

Finally No. 1.
