2. Bernd Leno

I have zero qualms with a keeper coming in at our second-best player on the year, because when you really get down to it, he likely saved us just as many points, if not more, than Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette were able to win us with their goals.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

It’s also incredibly refreshing to see Leno this high on the list, because Arsenal have been struggling with their keeper situation for about as long as they’ve been struggling with their defensive midfield situation. Last year was the epitome of it all, with Cech and Ospina doing a dance of ineptitude.

But Bernd Leno, after that initial acclimation period, grew into the role. Not just making saves, but making remarkable saves, intelligent decisions, and saving our arses on more than one occasion.

Even at the end of the year, when he had the one stinker, he came right back the next match and was his usual dominant self. I have complete and total faith in his ability to carry this team forward for a long time.

And finally, with no surprises, No. 1.
