Centerbacks

Again, I just don’t think that Unai Emery has the gumption to make any considerable swaps in the midweek fixture to help match up against superior opposition. He stuck to his guns and sent the same defense out even after the international break, despite it being so obvious what the superior defense is.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

So is he really going to make a conscientious switch here? Absolutely not. He’s going to stick with Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi and, honestly, I’m actually really excited to see what these two can do.

I have been steadily unimpressed by both David Luiz and Sokratis, namely the latter, despite whatever goal scoring prowess they have found as of late. So I’m fully prepared to feel the ultimate let-down when these two implode and join the fire…

Just kidding. It won’t be that bad. Mustafi knows what he’s up against, he knows the statement he can make. Holding is incredibly talented and looks to be the future of this defense, so the pairing should stand strong, no matter what comes at them.

The midfield is coming up next.
