There’s not a lot to be happy about around Arsenal these days, so let’s look at three players you can focus on to drown out the negativity.
It’s pretty ugly out there. Granit Xhaka is trying to make peace with vile fans, Mesut Ozil still doesn’t know what his future holds, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, our new captain, is canoodling with certain piggish YouTube channels and the Arsenal board has threw 100% of their backing behind Unai Emery, thus further riling up and already riled up fan base.
How do you stay out of the negativity? You can’t really look off the pitch, there’s too much bad stuff going on there as well. You certainly can’t look on the pitch either though… or can you?
The team may be failing, but there are certain individual performances that you can turn to for inspiration that not everything at the club is broken. I’m not talking about anything monumental, just players to look to for enjoyment since there is so little to be found these days.
These are players who aren’t quitting or slacking, or struggling in any way despite the less-than-savory aura at the club these days. So let’s get in to those three players now. We start with No. 3.
3. Kieran Tierney
The excitement around recent signings has kind of died down since the summer. Nicolas Pepe is struggling to catch on, David Luiz is David Luiz and I honestly can’t even remember who else we signed. Oh yeah, Dani Ceballos. Whoops.
Obviously Gabriel Martinelli is catching on too, but as for Kieran Tierney, we have someone really, really special, who is playing a position that has been just consistently ‘good’ and nothing more for years now. But Tierney is bringing a new energy, and new enthusiasm, and he just plays the game the way you want to see it played.
He’s a very classic-style footballer, doesn’t flop, doesn’t complain. Just plays the game the way it’s meant to be played, and that makes him such a breath of fresh air among all the divas and drama.
Alright, let’s move on to No. 2.
