2. Alexandre Lacazette

I don’t think anyone could have predicted how poorly this season would have gone for our Player of the Season. It was a compilation of things. For starters, his confidence has been shot for the majority of the year. His finishing has been atrocious and he’s only amassed six Premier League goals as a result.

His performance off the ball hasn’t been there either. His hold-up play has been disappointing and he of course had that lengthy injury lay-off that was even less helpful than his poor form because he couldn’t get onto the pitch at all.

If not for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, this club would have massive goal scoring issues. They wouldn’t be able to rely on Lacazette and while we’ve seen these confidence issues before, we’ve never seen them stretch this far into the season.

Even as he highly impacted the match against Newcastle, he wasn’t able to follow that up in his return to the starting XI against Olympiakos, and we have to wonder what happens next for him. Because it’s hard to keep counting on him to do what he just isn’t doing.
