1. Trust the kids

Despite the obvious financial limitations, Mikel Arteta will be wanting to progress the team and challenge for a top-four spot and more. At the heart of this process is finding elite players at several positions. But Arsenal are in the fortunate position in which they have many potentially elite players already in the house.

Arteta is a renowned coach, and he can help the club hugely by making elite players out of the talent already available. Such players are free and do cost, say, £72 million, which is far from guaranteed from working out.

The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and others all offer young players who are raring to go. With the inability to spend at the same level as in recent years, Arteta will have to rely on these players to deliver. Some will be in the starting XI; others will be depth pieces across the squad.
