Arsenal have no time to rest on their laurels as they’re right back in Premier League action with a trip to face Everton in the Premier League on Monday night. Here is the match preview.

Still reeling from the result at Old Trafford, Mikel Arteta will want his side to bounce back immediately after throwing away a glorious opportunity to grab three points at Old Trafford.

Manchester United had won just one of their previous eight league outings and didn’t look any different than their form suggested with a bang average performance only better by Arsenal’s even worse mistakes.

Getting their noses in front and throwing the game away with a negative and damaging mindset that has been prevalent throughout the campaign, stupid individual errors then crept into the display as three goals were gifted to the hosts on a crucially important night for team.

That result, and others that took place in the Premier League, leaves Arsenal exactly as they were in fifth place but having missed out on the chance to move into the top four as well as eight clear of Manchester United.

A turnaround is needed. And what better opportunity to do so than against a team who haven’t just won the single game in eight, but instead not a single one over that period of time?

If United’s form was bad, Everton have just two points from their previous eight matches in the division, most recently falling to a 4-1 home humbling in the Merseyside derby in one of the heaviest defeats suffered on home soil in this fixture.

Rafa Benitez is a man under severe pressure by the fans, with even more fierce animosity directed at the club’s owners and board for continuously shambolic recruitment.

The Toffees are a mismanaged and unorganised mess, not to mention they’re still missing vital players in the team as Benitez tries to juggle around for results with some average players. It isn’t working.

Set up great for Arsenal to take advantage, right? We’ve been here before.

Arsenal Team News vs Everton – Dominic Calvert-Lewin Still Absent

It looks set to be a case of rotation for Monday night as Arteta aims to shuffle his pack for a second Premier League evening trip to the north west in five days.

Bukayo Saka was on the bench at Old Trafford and looks fit to be involved from the start, while Emile Smith Rowe was blowing his lungs out by the 55th minute and could well be handed a rest ahead of the home visit of Southampton.

Granit Xhaka remains the obvious absentee as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury, although he is on the right track and has been seen taking part in light training with his teammates on the road to recovery.

Sead Kolasinac continues to be absent with an ankle issue.

It is the hosts who have the majority of injures to contend with. Benitez has been unable to call upon Arsenal target Dominic Calvert-Lewin since matchweek three of the season which has been a huge loss to them, with Soloman Rondon yet to get off the mark. The Englishman is definitely out injured, with Rondon also a doubt.

In midfield there will be no Tom Davies, with Andre Gomes set for late fitness tests to determine whether he could be involved. It is the same for Yerry Mina, who has been out of action since matchweek seven and a late call will be made on him.

Arsenal vs Everton Score Prediction

Arsenal making the away trip to a side in dire form and desperately craving a result to kick their season back into life? It almost feels like that happened recently…

On paper, Arsenal should dominate Everton. Play them off the park. They’re a side who you find next to no joy against aerially with the ball in open play, but are invitingly susceptible at set pieces, particularly in the second and third phases, and have become extremely easy to play through.

With strong defensive structure to deal with their attempts to sit deep and transition quickly, Arsenal should be alright.

But we know this story. We’ve read this chapter so many times before. How often does a presentable opportunity come around only for Arsenal to let it slip by them? Too often. Much like the United game, in fact, where they were there for the taking just as a place in the top four positions were too.

While those soft factors could be Arsenal’s undoing, the cold hard facts are that Everton have been utterly atrocious of late, can’t score goals and are missing key players in their team: Rondon is a lamppost, Seamus Coleman is way past his best and their midfield is unbalanced.

Get Martinelli (if he plays) on Coleman all evening and the game is there for Arsenal. The Toffees’ defensive setup is surprisingly brittle for a Benitez side, and their supreme lack of confidence has to be taken advantage of.

And it will. Feeling confident on this one. Lord knows why, mind you.

Score Prediction: Everton 0-2 Arsenal
