Arshavin to join LA Galaxy this summer?

Arsenal’s Andrei Arshavin is being linked with a move to MLS side LA Galaxy in the summer. Arshavin arrived at the club in February 2009 and lit up the Premier League for around a year and a half. He has slowly fallen out of favour at the club over the last couple of seasons and it is believed that his current contract expires in the summer.

Arshavin is on high wages at the club and his departure in the summer will certainly be a relief for many at the club. I’m no MLS expert by any means but the MLS website states that Arshavin would be LA’s third designated player at the club should he join. That will be Arshavin’s wage issue out of the way then for any of you wondering how LA could afford him.

The Russian is 32 this summer and his best days appear to be behind him. He is one of those players that can still turn on the magic from time to time and I feel a move to the MLS would be good for him at this stage of his career. LA fans, if this move happens, be excited but cautious too. For every magic moment you do get from Arshavin, you will be frustrated by his laziness and (sometimes) poor displays / effort. He does give you great memories though. Anfield goals (4 in 08/09 and the winner in 09/10) as well as a winner against Barcelona in 2011 are certainly goals I will never forget.
