Arsenal reportedly keen on French youngster

The Daily Mail are reporting that Arsenal are keen to bring Le Harve youngster Benjamin Mendy in this summer. The French club reportedly want £5m for Mendy, with the Gunners seemingly only willing to pay half of that.

Arsenal are likely to face competition from many clubs for his services, with Juventus, Lyon, Sunderland and Cardiff all reportedly keen to sign him this summer.

Again, I think this is a case of a newspaper just trying to create stories. They’ve made an obvious link to French football and youngsters coming to Arsenal and have created a story out of it. Like I said in this story, the last one linking Arsenal to a left-back, the Gunners already have Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at the position with Thomas Vermaelen able to play it too. As well as this the club have Andre Santos on the wage bill still and would need to get rid of him before even considering signing another one at that position.

Benjamin Mendy is the latest name linked with a move to Arsenal.
