Liverpool reject Arsenal’s Suarez bid

Arsenal have had a £30m bid for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez turned down according to the BBC. The Uruguayan has been linked with a move away from Anfield for much of the summer, with Real Madrid being strongly linked to him since the end of the season.

The BBC article suggests that Liverpool have refused to comment on the rumour but an approach was made and quickly rejected by the Merseyside club.

I am very surprised by this news today. There had been rumours here and there about this which I didn’t believe, but when a source like the BBC comes out and says a bid was made, I start believing that it’s true.

I don’t like Suarez at all, but he’s a very good footballer. I personally can’t see this move happening still, unless Arsenal were willing to pay crazy money, like Chelsea did to sign Fernando Torres from Liverpool a couple of years ago.

I still believe Arsenal’s number 1 target is Gonzalo Higuain. I’ve heard so many different stories regarding his transfer to the club so I have decided to give up reporting the many updates as so many are false and not worth the time it takes. If the Higuain deal happens, it happens.

One obvious link I have made here is that Real Madrid want Suarez this summer and Arsenal want to sign Higuain. They both play the same position, so as soon as Real Madrid accept an offer from Arsenal for Higuain, that’ll pretty well be able to buy you Suarez without having even spent much of your own cash.

Whether Arsenal are serious about Suarez or not remains to be seen. If I was purely guessing, I’d say it’s Wenger trying to increase pressure on Madrid to sell Higuain. Just my thoughts though…
