Arsenal Transfer Rumors – Three Days Remain

facebooktwitterreddit

The transfer window is a mere three days from closing on September 1st and not surprisingly, the amount of nearly-done and rumored deals is through the roof. Arsenal are still “on the verge” of signing another attacking option, a central defensive mid, and a center back. While we all know how little faith I put in rumors, here are the latest links:

1. Strikers: Alessio Cerci, a 27 year old Italian winger said to be going for around 16 million pounds; this signing would prove that Wenger was just messing with us when he said we didn’t need another striking option. I don’t see the need for Cerci, with Walcott due back, Ox looking brilliant and Campbell still an option, the wing isn’t exactly an area that needs buffing up.

Oh, and Falcao is still out there.

2. Centerbacks: Arsenal are linked with several centerbacks, with more emerging by the day. The current links are to Kostas Manolas, Sokratis, Toby Alderweireld, and Virgil van Dijk.

I think Alderweireld would be the best fit. He’s only 25, has world cup experience, can double as a right back and is a physical specimen.

3. Central defensive midfielders: The link is still there with Carvalho, with Wenger reportedly offering 27 million pounds. I’m not sure how much I believe that report, as the price tag was set at Wengers’ original asking price of 24 million and the Prof’s penny-pinching techniques are known far and wide.

We’re also linked with the PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, though he is strongly rumored to have already agreed with Roma. Personally, I don’t understand why we haven’t pursued Arturo Vidal harder, given his connection with Alexis. Perhaps the injury proneness was enough to drive Arsene away.
