Arsenal Face Tough Weekend

The first weekend of EPL fixtures after an international break is usually a big chance for the smaller teams with fewer international players to get a big result over one of the big teams. However Arsenal face a completely different challenge this Saturday lunchtime, hosting Champions Manchester City at the Emirates.

Both teams are full of international player, so who recovers best may come out on top

Both teams have a squad full of international players so there’s not going to be much to tell between the two in terms of miles travelled, but the difference will be which team gels together properly after being apart for the break. Who’s strikeforce is more clinical may also be a decider.

Arsenal seem almost certainly call on new signing Danny Welbeck to continue his international form and head the attack in his first game for the Gunners, although Wenger’s insistence in playing Sanogo over Giroud in the opening matches may hint that the manager has faith in his French compatriot to do the job again.

I’ve already mentioned Welbeck’s form over the international break and if he can grab even one goal this weekend many people will think the move on deadline day was the correct one. If he scores the winner then some fans will argue he’s paid back his fee already.

Sanogo has also scored in the international break, but his goalscoring drought for club is causing a lot of concern amongst regular spectators. He has vowed to break the duck but is Manchester City the game that we want him to try?

Back in midfield will also be a critical value. This was where the Community Shield was won, but it is unlikely that City’s midfield will be a lacklustre as they were at Wembley. However Wenger chooses to arrange his midfield everyone must be willing to drop to receive the ball and also to tackle back. Hard work might win out over fancy playing football in this encounter.

So what do you guys think is going to be the biggest factor this weekend?
