Arsenal vs Galatasaray: Arsenal Must Step Up

After the first half of the North London Derby, I feel like none of us wanted to believe what was happening. After the game, I feel like none of us wanted to know what happened to this team. Injury is Arsenal’s biggest enemy and silly me, I thought Wenger and the Arsenal medical staff would learn from last years devastating injuries.

Aaron Ramsey, out for a month, Jack Wilshere, questionable, Mathieu Debuchy, out for at least three months, Olivier Giroud, out for at least three months. All four of those players were on the starting 11 on the first game of the season.

To add to all this misery, Arsenal’s summer signing, Alexis Sanchez, is reportedly benched because he affects the Arsenal passing game by holding the ball for too long and trying too much individual work. It has been a tough week for Gunners fans everywhere and we should all be thankful this game is not in Turkey.

Prediction: Arsenal 1 – 1 Galatasaray

1) Next Man Up

That is the mentality great teams have; teams that can fight through a hard season always have the mentality of next man up. I believe this Arsenal team is tougher than in years pass, and early season injuries will not be a huge blow to the psyche of the team.

The Arsenal midfield is still very deep and it is filled with untapped potential, but I don’t see them playing consistently enough to pull out a win. There will be moments where the midfield works beautifully and score a super goal, but then they will quickly disappoint you and give away an easy ball right outside their own box.

2) Tired Legs

When a manager has to use 2 of his 3 subs in the first half, it means core players of the team will have to work even harder and play more minutes than the manager may have wanted. The Arsenal defense has no depth and the defense played the whole 90 minutes without a sub.

This game will be another intense, physical game and it would only be a matter of time before tired legs create goal scoring opportunities for the opposition.

3) Who is going to score

Danny Welbeck has been a great addition, but he has been a subpar striker. Welbeck has played well but like all Arsenal strikers lately, just can’t find the back of the net consistently enough.

Arsenal’s offensive output is laughable and I think Santi Cazorla will score the lone goal for this Arsenal team. Welbeck will have some great chances to get the team a big win, but like every game he has played so far, it will be close but no cigar.
