Arsene Wenger Still Disillusionally Slotting Players Out of Position

It’s been established that Mesut Ozil has been played out of position for the gross majority of the time that he’s been with Arsenal. When played at his favored central midfielder role, particularly against Galatasary, he flourished and showed everyone how capable he was.

Now, with the recent excellent outings by Jack Wilshere as the England holding midfielder, the outcry has been heard for the young Englishman to play the same, sought after role for Arsenal.

But he won’t be playing there. Why?that

Because Arsene Wenger said so.

Jack Wilshere told reporters, as reported by Goal.com.

"“I wouldn’t mind playing it at Arsenal and I’ve already spoken to the manager about it, and he doesn’t see me playing that role just yet.“I enjoy my role for Arsenal as well because I can get a bit further forward, but I wouldn’t mind playing the holding role for Arsenal. That’s the manager’s decision."

I don’t get it. I feel like Wenger is still swollen with the pride of making Thierry Henry a striker that he feels that he alone knows how best to play his players. I fully believe that Wenger does not listen to his player’s preferences. This is now two players, Wilshere and Ozil, who provide solutions to two of Arsenal’s problems, yet Wenger won’t utilize them the way they need to be utilized.

Plus, playing Wilshere as a holding midfielder would free Aaron Ramsey to play in a more advanced role, which would make his partnership with Wilshere (which has been in question) all the more plausible.

Wilshere has been man of the match for England four times as a holding midfielder. He admits that it’s a role he wants to play and it’s a role that Arsenal sorely need, so why not deploy him where he wants to play and where Arsenal need a quality player?  It’s just another case of Arsene Wenger being delusional and thinking he is the only one who knows what’s best.
