Lukas Podolski has to be Played More at Arsenal

I’ve actually been advocating for Lukas Podolski to get some playing time for quite some time. After a stellar ten minutes against Burnley that should have seen him score another goal, it became apparent that he was a bit more lethal and clinical than Danny Welbeck, but he still couldn’t find the light of day on the pitch.

Against Galatasaray, Podolski showed again just what he can do and what his striking prowess is capable of.

Both goals by Podolski showed distinct aspects of his skill set. His first displayed his absolute rocket of a left foot, as he got it into the upper corner of the inside post.

The second showed his advancing and probing skills. He was hounded the entire way into the box but still displayed the calm and coolness needed to widdle throught the defense and tap the ball into the net.

Arsene Wenger has responded to Podolski’s success, as reported by the Express. Here’s what he had to say: “He’s getting back to form and there’s a lot of competition up front. I have a lot of players available so I can rotate a little bit. He will get his opportunities.”

Hopefully that translates into more playing time for the German, because quite frankly he has looked superior to Danny Welbeck in every conceivable way.

While rumors are pushing Lukas Podolski towards the Arsenal exit door, I truly hope we hang on to him. He is such an undervalued asset on this team that shines on the pitch despite obvious frustration.
