Aaron Ramsey has yet again proven to be vital to Arsenal’s aspirations, which is just part of what makes his potential exit so terrifying.

Arsenal have been blessed with the pristine form of Aaron Ramsey once again. The Welshman has looked like a new man since the departure of his nemesis, Alexis Sanchez. The goals, assists, and general influence have been free-flowing and the thought of an exit is gut-wrenching.

Even in his limited capacity, as Arsene Wenger has been keen on not over-stretching the dynamic midfielder, Ramsey still sits among the team leaders in goal contributions, behind just Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil, despite playing a combined 1000 minutes less than the two.

Ramsey is in peak form. The best he has ever been, and that includes the Super Rambo breakout campaign of 2013/14. There is no one on this team that can be pegged as more vital than the Welshman, not even Mesut Ozil, who I would judge his equal.

As such, the idea of him leaving next summer on a free, or even worse, this summer (even with a fee), is terrifying. But the exit is just one part of the agony. To me, the worst part about a potential exit is knowing that he has his pick of wherever he wants to go and I have no doubts that, wherever he goes, he will be a legitimate superstar.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

When he flirted with Barcelona two summers ago, all I could think about was how many goals he could be responsible for in a set-up like that. He would be a madman. And with the downgrade in physicality, the risk of injury would not be as prevalent.

And now he is linked to Juventus. Another place where he would make a killing doing things like Miralem Pjanic does. From a selfish perspective, Ramsey could absolutely see his future in Spain or Italy because he would be a better player there, and a more consistent one, than in England.

When a player leaves Arsenal, the hardest part is seeing them succeed elsewhere. It’s why I struggle with Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas far more than Samir Nasri or Alexis Sanchez (thus far). The former two found tremendous success outside of the Emirates, while the latter two fell on their faces, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Granted, Alexis isn’t all said and done, but that’s why I said “thus far.”

Ramsey would not fall on his face. He is too good a player and too hard a worker for that to happen. And that is what makes this talk of an exit even harder.
