The Polish international has been in great form since coming in for the injured Gabriel.
If you had of asked me a couple of months ago what the future holds for Polish international Jakub Kiwior at Arsenal, like most, I would have said that he would be placed on the transfer list to help fund what is looming as a huge summer for the Gunners.
But now? Hmm, let's re-think that.
When Gabriel went down with a hamstring injury against Fulham that required surgery and ruled him out for the season, it was Kiwior's time to shine.
Managing just 18 games in all competitions before Gabriel's injury, it was clear that Kiwior wasn't part of Mikel Arteta's plans, especially with William Saliba as the Brazilian's partner.
But as we know, it doesn't take "just" a starting XI to win the league and trophies, it takes a squad, and it is here where we pull at the idea that Arteta should insist on the defender remaining in north London.
Kiwior shining in alongside Saliba
We now have a good sample size of Kiwior as a starter in the heart of Arsenal's defense next to Saliba, and one word has continued to come up when assessing his performances - superb.
If it was just in the Premier League, his performances might have been met with a shoulder shrug, but when we throw in two legs against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and both times, he didn't look out of his depth, in fact, he looked rather comfortable in both, that is a big tick to the young Polish international.
Having not only a solid backup, but one who could be seen as a starter elsewhere, is the type of squad depth the Gunners haven't had in years.
We understand the need for Arteta and Co. to raise funds for the summer transfer splurge, but Kiwior's sale can't be a part of it, given the nature of his displays since coming into the first team.
Other fringe players like Kieran Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Nuno Tavares, and Fabio Vieira are the ones to be sold, but Kiwior, in my opinion, has to be the one that stays.
Because to win the league and go far in competitions, you need squad depth, and over the past month, Kiwior has shown exactly how valuable he is to Arteta.
