2 standout performers from Arsenal's defeat at Bournemouth
- Arsenal lost 2-0 away to the Cherries on Saturday evening
- A poor performance all round
- Only two players stood out
Arsenal saw their unbeaten start to the season end on Saturday evening with a dismal 2-0 defeat away to Bournemouth.
William Saliba was sent off in the first half for taking down a goal-bound Evanilson. The Gunners were made to pay in the second half when Ryan Christie put the Cherries 1-0 up with 20 minutes remaining. Justin Kluivert then put the seal on victory with a penalty ten minutes from full time.
Amid poor performances from most of the team, there were two standout players from the Gunners's disappointing defeat.
1. Declan Rice
Declan Rice had a decent game in the midfield and battled well with the opposition. He played 39 out of 45 accurate passes, as well as creating two chances and completing three dribbles.
Either side of Saliba's red card, he stepped up to help in defence and did well. Rice completed five defensive actions overall and made seven recoveries. He also won ten out of 11 duels and drew three fouls throughout the game.
It certainly wasn't his best showing in an Arsenal shirt but Rice can be proud of his performance. He played well while the majority of his teammates underwhelmed.
