The Once And Future King?
On the heels of the club recently erecting a statute of Arsenal legend, Thierry ‘Titi’ Henry, as part of the club’s recent 125th anniversary comes the rumor that Arsène Wenger is mulling a move for the Premier League’s best-ever striker (silence, Rooney & Shearer bandwagoners).
Henry is now 34 and past his best but he’s most likely better than Marouane Chamakh or Andrei Arshavin at this point. With Chu-Young Park not even making the bench so far these days, and with the rest of the striking corps youngsters, it certainly couldn’t hurt much to bring Thierry back in as he would likely sign on a “hometown discount” for his wages and would likely be just a short-term move on loan from the MLS’ New York Red Bulls. His possible arrival would certainly be a boost to the club and fans’ morale. Heck, even at 34, Henry likely has enough pace to play a wide forward in our 4-3-3 as he loved to drift wide on the left when he played anyway and originally was a left winger.
Titi’s exploits from the BBC article of the same story:
THIERRY HENRY AT ARSENAL
- Appearances: 370
- Goals 226
- Premier League titles: two
- FA Cups: three
- PFA Player of the Year awards: two
- Premier League top scorer: four times
A return for the once and future king?
