2011 Arsenal Debutantes

facebooktwitterreddit

The Arsenal official site has a nice little piece on the 2011 players that made their 1st team debuts.  These include: now #1 Wojciech Szczesny in goal, all-action midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong and the hopefully future Yaya Toure-like, Chuks Aneke.

Szczesny has obviously made the most impact as he has run away with the #1 goalkeeping position from Manuel Almunia, Polish compatriot, Lukasz Fabianski, and the likely to be sold, Vito Mannone.  Szczesny is definitely more assured, confident, and overall miles BETTER than Almunia who I am not afraid to say do not miss between the sticks at all!  An understatement, I know.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing Chuks Aneke (given name actually, Chukmuemeka Aneke) worked into the 1st team in the future.  He is currently on loan at League One side, Stevenage, having made 3 appearances so far.  Wenger has compared the youngster to Yaya Toure and none other than Barcelona have tried before to purchase the youngster (along with Benik Afobe), so, obviously big things are expected of the powerful, midfielder.

Other players covered in the article are Daniel Boateng, Conor Henderson, Ignasi Miquel, the awesomely named Oguzhan Özyakup and Nico Yennaris.

With these players and several other highly thought of youngsters yet to make their 1st team Arsenal debuts (such as Afobe), it looks like Arsenal will keep up their tradition of churning out young, quality players.

Come on you Young Gunners!
