Toure: Van Persie could help Man City win the Champions League
By Tom Humphrey
Former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure has hinted that he would like to see Robin Van Persie do what he did in 2009 and leave the Emirates for Man City.
The Ivorian told reporters the following:
"“Robin is a top player. I’ve played with him, I know him and he’s a great man. At City we have great players and the club does what it wants in transfers. But for me, if Robin comes it’s great because I know what he can do. You have to build your squad every year to do better; to win the Champions League is very difficult as we have seen.”"
Toure’s quotes come just a couple of days after Van Persie announced he will not be extending his contract at Arsenal beyond it’s expiration next summer. If Van Persie were to join City, he wouldn’t be the first to do so following their billionaire takeover in 2008. The likes of Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri have made the move in recent years as well as other ex-Gunners that made the move indirectly like Patrick Vieira and Stuart Taylor, who was recently released by the club.
