Differing reports on Niang deal

As Arsenal are set to lose Robin Van Persie and Carlos Vela up front, another striker is possibly coming into the club. Arsenal have already signed Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud this summer, but M’Baye Niang impressed on his week-long trial and Arsenal have made an offer for him. Here is where we are getting mixed reports:

Sky Sports claimed last night that Arsenal had agreed a fee with Niang’s club Caen and were going to discuss a deal with Niang, but also claimed that Manchester City are interested in the youngster too and are preparing a bid. This was then published by a lot of newspapers in this country too.

BUT Ouest France claim that Caen’s president had told them they had rejected Arsenal’s first offer and that he said the following:

"“It’s not derogatory, but it’s not what we want.” – Caen’s president on Arsenal’s first offer for M’Baye Niang"

Make of that what you will, I’m pretty sure all media sources, including Sky Sports just second guess and hope they are right. They certainly jumped the gun on this one.
