Arsenal to take Swedish youngster on trial

Arsenal are set to take Swedish youngster Linus Wahlquist on a trial at the club. The Swede plays for the same club that current Arsenal player Kristoffer Olsson joined the club from, IFK Norrkopings. He is a highly rated centre back and will get his chance to impress coaches over the next week. He has previously trained with other clubs around Europe such as AC Milan, Benfica and Sunderland. It is also believed that Inter Milan have an interest in him.

The youngster said the following via his Twitter account (@linuswahlquist):

"Over to London next week for a trial at Arsenal! ‪#AFC‬"

Having taken Olsson last summer and seeing as they’re taking Wahlquist on trial, it appears that Arsenal are interested in developing Swedish talent. Of course, Arsene Wenger has a good history with Swedes, having brought both Freddie Ljungberg and Sebastian Larsson to the club in the past. Ljungberg was one of the finest players to come out of Sweden and played a huge part in Arsenal’s success in the early to mid 2000’s, particularly in the 2001/02 Double winning campaign.
