Arsenal name squad for Asia Tour
By Tom Humphrey
Arsenal have announced their squad for their forthcoming tour of Asia. Unsurprisingly, Robin Van Persie will not be travelling with the team to Asia as he looks to seek a transfer away from the club this summer. For those there, it is a mixture of youth and experience going. A lot of first teamers aren’t ready due to their Euro 2012 commitments earlier in the summer and the subsequent breaks that they took. Amongst those are Laurent Koscielny and new boy Olivier Giroud who were in the French squad at the tournament and also both Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker, who were with the German squad at the tournament.
Injury news: Bacary Sagna should be back from his injury at the end of August according to Arsene Wenger. Jack Wilshere’s return has yet to have a date set on it as he has been out of action for a year now. Tomas Rosicky was injured at Euro 2012 and will return to training in 6 to 8 weeks. Emmanuel Frimpong will be back somewhere around September or October time. Abou Diaby, Mikel Arteta and Lukasz Fabianski are all fit following injuries they picked up towards the end of last season and they will all be on tour in Asia.
