Afobe joins Bolton on loan

Benik Afobe has joined Championship side Bolton on a season-long loan deal. The youngster has had loan spells at Huddersfield and Reading in the last two seasons and will be going back to the Championship next season, with the recently relegated Trotters. Afobe was part of the team that won the Championship with Reading, having been at the club from March until the end of the season.

Afobe was part of the squad that travelled to Asia this summer, but there were signs there that he needed to develop his game further before getting into the Arsenal first-team. Jack Wilshere and Ryo Miyaichi have had spells at Bolton in recent years, albeit in the Premier League compared to the Championship where Afobe will be playing. Those moves benefited Bolton for the short-term and Arsenal long-term. Hopefully this will be the case with this deal too.

Best wishes to Benik at Bolton.
