Arsenal and Liverpool both interested in Sahin
By Tom Humphrey
Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in signing Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin on a season-long loan deal. Arsenal’s interest has been known about for weeks, but it is believed that other clubs from across Europe have shown an interest in him, including Liverpool. The one advantage Arsenal have over Liverpool is that they are in the Champions League, whilst Liverpool are in the Europa League. This will get Sahin a taste of Champions League football at one club before returning to Madrid next summer. Whether Sahin is willing to go a season without Champions League football in the belief that he would get more playing time at Anfield than at the Emirates is unknown.
Online rumours have also suggested that Tottenham were also interested in Sahin, but he has told them that he isn’t interested in a move to White Hart Lane. The fact he has rejected Spurs but is interested in Liverpool suggests he either wants to play more, so will be interested in Liverpool as their midfield would be easier to break into, or that he admires the history at Liverpool and wants to help bring the good times back. From what I hear though, Arsenal are still in a good position in the chase for his signature, they just need to agree a loan fee with Real Madrid.
