Wilshere to make comeback for Under-21s
By Tom Humphrey
Jack Wilshere will make his return to football on Monday afternoon for the Arsenal under-21s against West Brom’s under-21 team. Wilshere hasn’t played a game of football since July 2011 in a pre-season friendly against the New York Red Bulls.
Wilshere has been out for over a year.
Wilshere returned to training on September 21st and he will be eased back into the first-team I’m sure. With Wilshere having been out so long, it is important he doesn’t pick up another injury. Arsene Wenger and of course England manager Roy Hodgson will be hoping that Wilshere makes it through the hour or so that Wenger is suggesting he plays on Monday, without any problems.
Wilshere is still only 20 now and was Arsenal’s most used player in the 2010/11 campaign. The overuse of Wilshere is what Wenger believes lead to the injury. Wenger has said that he thinks it will be too soon for Wilshere to play in next month’s England internationals against San Marino and Poland.
Both his and Emmanuel Frimpong’s returns from injury provide another boost and even more options to an already packed midfield. Frimpong came off the bench for about 20 minutes in last night’s League Cup win over Coventry.
