Happy birthday to two Arsenal legends

With Arsenal players getting ready for the internationals, it is a bit of a slow news week for the club. The 10th October is an important day for two of the best players in the history of the club.

In 1950, Charlie George was born in Islington, therefore he grew up a Gunners fan. Best known for scoring the winning goal in the 1971 FA Cup Final, I wish him the happiest of birthdays.

Charlie George’s 1971 FA Cup Final winner was voted the 20th greatest goal scored in Arsenal history by fans.

In 1966, another legend was born on the same day. Joining the club as a schoolboy in 1980, Adams became ‘Mr. Arsenal’ and captained the club from 1988 until he retired in 2002. He was a very successful captain and lead the side to many trophies under both George Graham and Arsene Wenger. He is the only player in English football to have captained a title winning team in three different decades and is the greatest captain in the club’s history, without any doubt. Last year a statue was placed outside the Emirates Stadium to honour three club legends. Tony Adams, Thierry Henry and Herbert Chapman were the three selected. Happy birthday Tony.

Tony Adams lifts the Premier League trophy in 1998.
