Chamakh in West Ham talks
By Tom Humphrey
Yesterday I brought you news about two fringe players possibly leaving the club in January. Today I bring you news of another possible departure from the Emirates this winter.
Reports in the British media this morning suggest that Arsenal’s Marouane Chamakh is in talks over a possible move across London to West Ham. The Moroccan forward has been out of favour at the Emirates over the last couple of seasons following a loss in form. Chamakh has only scored three goals since September 2011, two of which came in the League Cup tie at Reading back in October.
The likeliest outcome would be Chamakh going to West Ham on loan for the rest of the season with a view of making the switch permanent in the summer. Having said that, if they want to buy him permanently, they are more than welcome to in my opinion!.
Chamakh hasn’t looked interested since about December 2010, which explains his poor form since then onwards. I was so sure he would be a hit at the club after his promising start, it’s a shame really. The move will see Arsenal get a fair chunk of wasted money off of their wage bill, with Chamakh reportedly on wages of £80,000 a week at Arsenal.
Chamakh looks set to join West Ham in January.
