Andre Santos says goodbye to Arsenal fans
By Tom Humphrey
Before leaving to join Brazilian club Gremio on loan, Andre Santos had a few words to say to Arsenal fans. Here is a transcript of what he had to say:
"“Hi everyone! As you know I’m going to a new club on loan until the end of the season. I feel that I need to play and Gremio is giving me a big opportunity to do this. So I’ve travelled to Brazil and I’ll be playing for Gremio.Everything happened very quickly with the loan move, but I’m confident this is the best for both Arsenal and myself.I’m doing this video, just to say thanks to everyone at Arsenal, especially Arsène Wenger, for everything he has done for me. I also want to thank everyone at the Club for sorting out the contracts in a very professional matter.I want to thank all the Arsenal players who were always so good to me, especially Bacary Sagna, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla for always being there for me. I just want to say a big thanks to all the people that helped me at this wonderful club.I wish all the best for the team for the remainder of this season and of course, I’ll be following the team from Brazil. Finally a special thanks to all the wonderful Arsenal fans who supported me during this period here at Arsenal. I leave not with a ‘goodbye’, but with a ‘see you soon’.” – Andre Santos’ message to Arsenal fans"

Whilst I don’t rate Santos’ ability on the pitch, he has always come across as a good guy off of it. He has had the class to come out and deliver a goodbye message to the fans and I respect that. Good luck to him in Brazil and as it is a loan spell, it isn’t impossible that we won’t see him in Arsenal colours again (although I’m hoping only in a pre-season game before a summer move away personally!).
