Afobe’s Millwall loan spell cut short by injury
By Tom Humphrey
Striker Benik Afobe will return to Arsenal after suffering a knee injury whilst playing for Millwall against Wolves on Tuesday. The injury is a torn anterior cruciate ligament so Afobe is returning to Arsenal and undergo surgery soon.
The injury will obviously keep him out for the rest of this season, hence why Millwall sent him back to the Emirates and Afobe could make his return this autumn.
Afobe originally signed a season-long loan deal at Bolton, but they sent him back to Arsenal in January. He then moved to Millwall for the rest of the season last month, but this loan spell was cut short in unfortunate circumstances.
It is never nice to hear of a player suffering an injury like this and I’d like to wish Benik all the best in his recovery and I hope to see him in an Arsenal shirt soon.
